Position Summary

Works with the Legal Group's litigation attorneys, who manage the Company's docket of active and potential litigation matters.Works with the Legal Group's litigation attorneys, who manage the Company's docket of active and potential litigation matters.

Key Accountabilities

Working with in-house and outside counsel in fact investigation, document retention (including legal hold orders), document collection (for discovery purposes), court filings, case and legal spend tracking, recordkeeping, and general administrative duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Manage discovery/document requests by outside counsel and collect and provide documents
  • Monitor outside counsel performance and cost on litigation matters
  • Prepare status updates to all current litigation matters and pending disputes
  • Manage legal matter management system (CounselLink) including updating   litigation/disputes, tracking cost and budget information, and entering new matters
  • Acknowledge and track service of process for all entities and ensure proper assignment internally
  • Prepare responses to subpoenas and administer the processing of garnishment orders
  • Work with IT regarding the preservation and collection of information to be held for litigation
  • Manage hold process for litigation including the initiating and releasing holds after conclusion of matters
  • Proofread and edit documents
  • Assist attorneys in Legal Group
  • Perform general administrative tasks
  • Interface with insurers regarding the reporting of claims and providing updates on matters
  • Manage engagement letters with outside counsel
  • Perform initial investigations, interviews, and due diligence
  • Attend meetings, depositions, mediations, or hearings as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc., and with various legal related sites
  • Proficiency with CounselLink matter/management software preferred
  • Notary Public
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills
  • Friendly, outgoing, self-starter who will take ownership over tasks

Required Experience and Education

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm or a corporate in-house legal team
  • Paralegal certification required, degree preferred
