Position Summary

As a Cementing Engineer III, you will use your experience, technical knowledge, and leadership skills to complete engineering activities that are vital to the successful completion of a cementing job. Your duties include, but are not limited to providing cement job design, well support, and post job analysis to customers in your designated district. Responsible for providing technical support on location as required by the customer or your business segment; ensuring that the company’s cementing best practices and procedures are being utilized.

Key Accountabilities
  • Conducts activities in accordance with the Company’s HSE guidelines. Promotes safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and supervision to field operating personnel, utilizing in-depth product and equipment knowledge, company, customer, or industry approved methods and procedures, to deliver a high level of service quality to the customer.
  • Maintains and enhances good customer relations.
  • Consults with the customer base to determine cement job specific well challenges, and recommends solutions based on an engineering analysis or case history information.
  • Assists in existing and new product, process, or standard operating procedure improvement and development.
  • Collaborates with Sales and other business segments to promote business opportunities.
  • Provides cementing job designs, makes recommendations, and generates cementing proposals for customer base in designated district.
  • Schedules and submits lab requests and assists in scheduling jobs to be loaded in the Bulk Plant.
  • Assists with RFP/Tender preparation and submission, in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Actively deals with customer requirements and complaints.
  • Development of step-by-step job procedures (with no supervision) for various cement job types, and the ability to explain the job procedure to the customer.
  • Perform post-job evaluations, providing recommendations and improvement actions as needed. May be required a complete a post-job report.
  • Assist in irregular cement job investigations, utilizing all available cementing knowledge and resources to determine root causes.
  • Able to review and evaluate Cement Bond Logs in conjunction with all available data, to determine effectiveness of cement placement, and to make improvement recommendations for future jobs.
  • Coach, mentor, evaluate, and provide technical guidance to Cementing Engineer Trainees, Engineer I’s, and Engineer II’s.
  • Able to interpret and recognize problems with cement lab testing, and able to troubleshoot and find solutions based on sound technical and engineering cementing technology principles, to correct lab testing related problems.
  • Able to provide recommendations to the customer on casing attachments based on well conditions and best available technology. 
  • Conduct Cement Lab, Bulk Plant, and location audits to identify potential issues that can be resolved before problems develop.
  • Assist with hiring engineering and laboratory staff.
  • Promote teamwork on a continuous basis.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • A firm understanding of hydraulics, mechanical power, and chemistry.
  • Knowledge generally associated with 4+ years of experience as an engineer.
  • Understands advanced cementing principles including cement sheath mechanical property theory.
  • Able to use and interpret results for the advanced features of Cempro+ and CentraDesign.
  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office applications, Excel, MS Word, etc.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Multitasking, interpersonal communication and attention to detail are all required skills.
Required Experience and Education
  • 3 - 4 years BSc degree in Science/Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as an engineer. Having Cement Engineering experience will be a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
