Fishing Tool Specialist

Position Summary

The Fishing Tool Specialist is solely responsible for analyzing well failures and recommending remedial actions, necessary equipment and personnel solutions, and providing price quotes.  The duties of the Fishing Tool Specialist include the ability to read, understand, and independently implement the Customer's project procedures.  The individual in this job role must have technical expertise that will enable them to make decisions, when the customer is unavailable, to change procedures as the well conditions change.  The Specialist oversees and directs the loading, transportation, unloading at the job site, operations and maintenance of the equipment is performed within the guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures.  All duties of the Fishing Tool Specialist are to be performed according to the Company operating procedures in order to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to efficiently perform the task.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate company vehicle on a daily basis transporting to and from jobs.
  • Ensure proper delivery of equipment.
  • Pull proper tools needed for each job and determining need and use of equipment on job site.
  • Must have applicable knowledge of DOT rules and regulations as required for the position.
  • Have the knowledge required to calculate displacement, volumes, weights, pipe tallies and knowledge of pump capabilities, torque ratings for power swivels, bit sizes, weights of tubulars used and truck ratings allowed by Local, State, Company and Federal regulations.
  • Operate downhole tools from start to finish on a job.
  • Create and organize proper paperwork including tickets for jobs, submit proper paperwork upon completion of each job in a timely manner.
  • Transport dirty tools and motors to designated areas following job completion.
  • Assist in job action planning with customer on job site.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers while maintain open line of communication with managerial personnel during and after job completion.
  • Work effectively with other field hands to ensure quality operations at all times.
  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the immediate supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of oilfield and related equipment associated with pumping oilfield fluids and drilling operations using various Fishing Tools.
  • Must have a valid CDL A driver’s license with the proper endorsements required for the type vehicle operated, issued by state of residence.  This position may require HAZMAT endorsement.
  • Must have prior knowledge of general administrative practices pertaining to initial assignment, IE: employment; accounts payable, accounts receivable; payroll/timekeeping, purchasing, etc.
  • Must have applicable knowledge of DOT rules and regulations as required for the position.
  • Prior experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or Oracle is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills to efficiently handle a variety of daily tasks while maintaining flexibility to meet shifting priorities.

Required Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • 7-10 years work experience preferred
